A Very Merry Christmas

Though it lacked figgy pudding or boughs of holly, we had a very nice Christmas today.  It did include lots of gifts, some amazing surprises and good food.  Tom made a baked ziti and meatballs.  My mom made the salad and I made a pecan pie.  Tom managed to blow me away with his gift of a new iPhone.  He received one just a few days ago and yet still made no hint to the fact I was about to receive one.  His ability to keep a secret and act completely cool is a little disturbing actually, but I think he really enjoys the payoff of seeing me completely floored by his generosity and thoughtfulness.  He ain't always easy to deal with but he knows how to make up for it.

The kids got up and were greeted by Brobee (from Yo Gabba Gabba, of course)
I found an original 1980s Cabbage Patch Kid (in the box) from France for six dollars.  Yesssss!  (High five to self.)  Serafina liked it despite it's pretty ugly dress.  Daddy hooked her up with a new modern outfit.  She came with adoption papers (in French) and when we ask Serafina what to name her, she says "Donnowha" which means "I don't know."
The traditional toy assembly by dad.  This time it's Hot Wheel tracks.
Leo was pretty thrilled with this gift and it was played with all day.  His other big gift was two tickets to a real live monster truck rally in Oakland in February.

Leo drives his new monster truck over the tree house.
Serafina scopes out the monster trucks.
Though the kids got typical "boy" toys and "girl" toys, they don't really follow gender lines when it comes to playing.  Leo spent a lot of time with the doll house and Serafina had fun with the tracks.
