Mexico, day 4 - hitting the town

After our big excursion on Monday, we spent Tuesday morning just relaxing at the hotel beach and pool.  It was really nice.

We spotted this guy that looked like my dad in profile.  It was uncanny.  From the front, the resemblance wasn't as strong.  He was selling parasailing trips to tourists so he walked back and forth and every time he did I mumbled "Ito".

After lunch, Leo and I decided to go into town.  On Sunday, we had stopped by Walmart for snacks and snorkel gear and apparently he spotted a LEGO set he decided he needed.  He was enchanted by the idea of Mexican LEGOs even though he knew they were basically the same.
We took a cab to Walmart and he found what he wanted.
We had a long walk back with a couple of stops.  We were off the tourist streets and in the actually town of Playa del Carmen.  It was challenging and exciting and my dad would have been proud. It was also really stinking hot.  We scored some Mexican cokes of course.
And then we hit the pool.  It was necessary after our sweat march back to the hotel.

We ventured out into town for dinner and found this cool VW.
The kids and Tom had dinner from this burger cart that had expanded into a restaurant with tables but still kept the cart as its kitchen.

I had a vegan burger from around the corner.
