Sunny weekend in Tahoe

Friday morning we loaded up the car and headed to Tahoe.  After unloading the car and having lunch, we headed to Squaw so the boys could do some late spring skiing.  Unfortunately, the lifts closed early and they didn't get a chance to ski.
We hung out in the sunny village instead.
Later in the afternoon, Tom and I took a very lovely stroll.  The kids weren't interested in coming along, and we were okay with that!
Saturday morning, I took a yoga class and Tom did some skiing.  The kids weren't interested in skiing which was disappointing to Tom but understandable since they are really out of the skiing mindset.

We packed a lunch and headed to the big lake.  It was too windy to eat outside or even spend too much time outside.  The kids threw lots of rocks into the lake and I took a couple pictures before we went back to the car.

We had some time before we needed to be at our next destination, so we took a scenic drive across the state line into Nevada.  The kids got a huge kick out of it.

We went to back to Tahoe Treetop, which we visited last summer.  But this time we went to Tahoe Vista location.  Here are the kids geared up for obstacles and zip lines.
Serafina looks so happy but it takes her about three courses to warm up, gain confidence and enjoy herself.  She was in tears during the first three courses we did but she persevered and got into a grove. The course that made her cry the hardest became one of her favorites by the end of our visit.
Leo on the other hand has no fear and was practically jumping out of his skin to get started.

Tom ran across some of the obstacles, which is one way to do it.

Leo also used this technique on some obstacles.

I did not run across obstacles though sometimes I tried to go fast so not to focus on how far away I am from the ground.

In this video, you can see the lake in the backgound and hear the birds chirping.  And then you hear Tom grunt as he leaves the platform and starts his zipline.

We had a delicious dinner in Truckee on Saturday night and went home exhausted.

This morning we went on one of our favorite hikes.  In the past, it's been as crowded as the mall on Saturday but today it was quiet with only a few other people.

There were still a few patches of snow.
Hiking is always made better with a good walking stick.

After this picture was taken, Leo tossed his stick into the water and then gave it a bow.  It was pretty amazing.

Here's some proof I was there!
