Cousin time

Leo was busy after school, but Serafina spent some time with Anthony in the pool and hot tub at Nana's apartment complex.  She was so good with both boys.  I was proud of her.

Leo joined us for dinner.  Here's Anthony having a little dessert.  Such a cutie.
Darwin is a little trickier, but I'll try to get some pictures of him tomorrow.

Spirit Week - Day Three: Wacky Wear/Crazy Hair

Leo borrowed my shirt and socks.

Serafina stayed consistent with her 2017 look in many ways.  Even down to the pose, which she did unprompted both times.

Anthony and Darwin

My cousin Monica arrived last night to say with my mom for a couple of days.  She brought her two adorable sons and today they came over to play.

Here's Leo showing Anthony one of his Lego sets.

The boys weren't sure about the pool, but since my kids were getting in they were willing to put on their suits and life vests and give it a try.

They had a lot of fun playing with pool toys on the steps.
Darwin was reluctant at first but then didn't want to get out even though he was shivering.

Spirit Week - Day Two: hat day

Today was Hat Day.  It's probably the easiest of the dress up days.

It was also Park Day for the 4th graders.  I've always chaperoned Park Days in the past, but the fourth grade teachers specified that this was a teacher and student only event.  Apparently, parents showed up in the past with treats for their kid's class but not all the kids.  Anyway, I felt a little strange about not going to the park since it's something I'm used to doing, but that feeling didn't last all day.  That's because I got to go to the park.  Leo's teacher texted me at 1pm that he had hurt his leg playing on the baby swing and he didn't think he could make the walk back to school.  She wanted to know if I could pick him up to drive him the four blocks back to school.  I showed up at park and he was sitting with his friend Elouan (who was messing with the ice pack), his teacher, Noa, Sydney and Addison.  I did drive him to school and signed him out so he could be dismissed at the same time as Serafina.  His leg is fine.  It's bruised but that's it.

When we got back to school, he had a little bit of time before going home and he drew this picture of the incident.
He included his friend Elouan laying on the ground laughing at him while Leo dangled out of the swing.  Apparently Leo didn't appreciate being laughed at during a trying time.  Of course, he got in trouble yesterday for laughing at Serafina when she was upset about getting a piece of tortilla chip in her eye.  Life lessons in empathy and compassion are not in short supply around here.

While I was at school, I ran into Serafina having a final playtime and popsicle with her kindergarten reading buddy, Sedona.

Spirit Week - Day One: Hawaiian Day

It's time for the annual spirit week, full of dress up theme days.  Of course, by this point in the school year moms are all so done it's hard to muster up an enthusiasm for this, but the kids are pretty happy to take part.

Here they are dressed for Hawaiian Day.  Serafina was concerned she wouldn't be able to do gymnastics or run around in the long dress during recess so she wore a tank top and shorts underneath.

Here's a little collage of all the faces Leo made while I was trying to get one decent picture.

Another Merry Band play date

The girls had so much fun at the last Merry Band play date, I took them back to the same park on Friday afternoon.  Also, we learned recently that Jane (the tiny blonde) is moving back to Utah at the end of the month so we are trying to get as much hang time in as possible.

I also brought Leo and his buddy, Elouan.  Millie's mom was there to help and we had Millie's older sister, Sofia, and Jane's older sister, Kate, with us as well.
In the background of this picture you can see that the water feature was closed shortly after we got there because the water wasn't draining properly and it was a health hazard.

Service Awards

Yesterday, the school held a "Sports and Service" awards ceremony.  Kids received certificates for participating in different programs.

Serafina received one for being part of Circle of Friends.

Leo was acknowledged for being the spring Student Council representative.
