Dancey Dance

Leo is a fan of Yo Gabba Gabba, and honestly, I like the show too. Most episodes feature a special guest demonstrating a "dancey dance". Leo likes to do his own dancey dance throughout the day whenever the mood strikes him. He also learned how to do a somersault recently and I tried to get him to do it on video. Instead, he wanted to do his own dancey dance.

Hanging in there

Leo has improved, but Serafina is pretty miserable. Poor baby girl. She isn't sleeping well and is extra fussy. I've been giving her lots of love, but she just has to ride this out. We had a couple "sick kid playdates" since everyone in our "crew" has the same thing.

The kids are still in good spirits despite feeling yuck. Leo makes Serafina laugh and it's very sweet to see.

What's worse...

than one sick kid? Two sick kids. Yep, the baby is coughing, stuffy and slightly feverish. It's interfering with her (and my) sleeping, but she's smiling and handling it well. Leo is still coughing up a storm and feeling feverish on and off. Today he told me "my head is rocking", which I interpreted to mean he was feeling dizzy. Poor kid. He's able to sleep well both at night and for naps, and I'm indulging all his movie-watching desires. We rotate between Cars, Ratatouille, and The Wizard of Oz, of course. He didn't have much of an appetite for a number of days, but he's finally eating a little more. I let him eat anything that interests him, which isn't usually how it works around here.
I'm going a little stir crazy and miss hanging out with our friends, but I want these kids to be healthy before I start dragging them out in the world. We're getting creative on how to stay entertained around the house and the kids are keeping each other company. When Serafina started a coughing fit, Leo brought her his cup and told her "drink water". Very sweet.
Though I haven't seen much improvement yet, I'm optimistic that better days are on the horizon.

Bronchitis

I'm not too sure how he ended up with bronchitis, but he's pretty miserable and it's really hard to see him feeling so bad. He's coughing a lot (especially at night), has a fever and very little appetite. Last night he had such a severe coughing fit that he vomited. We saw the doctor today and the office policy is for coughing kids to wear a mask in the waiting room. Even though he's feeling super yuck, he's still in pretty good spirits. I wish I could do more for him, but we mainly just need to keep him comfortable and hydrated and he should improve in about a week. Unfortunately, the doctor warned me that it will get worse before it gets better.

medicine

Today was Serafina's last dose of antibiotic she was prescribed for chronic nasal congestion. Thankfully the congestion cleared up and her breathing has significantly improved, but the medication gave her a crampy belly and diarrhea. I'm very glad to be done; it was a messy 10 days in many ways. Of course, since his sister was getting medicine multiple times a day, Leo wanted medicine too. I usually indulged him with some water or juice in a medicine dropper. The smell of the amoxicillin gave me flashbacks to my frequent childhood ear infection and my own need for the sticky pink stuff.

Siblings

Today there was an increase in Leo's interactions with Serafina. While I made lunch he "played" with her - handing her/taking away toys and chattering away. He made her bust out in full belly laughs more than once. It's pretty awesome to see them together. I'm not foolish enough to believe they will always get along, so I'll enjoy the happy moments.

Here she is, my big little girl. Her adorable dress was a gift from Great Grandma Anne.

We wish you a fat and happy 2010, kind of like this baby...

We had a lazy day. Here's the crew watching the Wizard of Oz (again).
