Lovin' on Leo

My mom visited this weekend and Tom returned from Denver on Saturday, so Leo has been getting a lot of lovin'. Here are a few pictures.
Reunited with dad, wearing his "Dad" tattoo t-shirt.

Trying out the ride-on toy I scored for two bucks at a yard sale. He's not quite ready for it yet.
Nana tries her best to convince Leo that peas are quite delicious, but he's not buying it.

His head is getting bigger (and so is his brain!), so we needed to get a bigger hat. Nana also got him the matching swimming trunks and top. Once the pool is warm enough, we'll be going in.

Mix it up

I combined apples and bananas (banapples, perhaps) for Leo today and it was a big hit.

"Let me help you with that." Yummy.

Missing daddy

Tom is in Denver this week, so Leo and I are going solo until my mom arrives on Friday. So far we're doing well, but Leo had some trouble falling asleep last night and I'm sure it was because he missed hanging with his dad before bed time. I promised Tom I'd send him pictures while he was gone, and I thought I might as well post them here too.

Lovin' my little man.
He gave himself a good scratch yesterday, so today I gave him a more thorough manicure.
Cracking up at his funny mommy.

Overdue update

Wow. I didn't realize it had been a whole week since I updated the blog. Apologies. We had a good week. My class is going smoothly so far, but I haven't had any large assignments to grade yet. Leo is doing great with his sitter. He tried apples this week and oatmeal. He really likes the oatmeal and gobbled it up the very first try. We had two play dates during the week. The other moms always comment on either Leo's fuzzy hair, his beautiful blue eyes and long eye lashes, or his big beer gut. He really does have quite the pot belly. It's hilarious to watch him try to put his toes in his mouth and not be able to because he's too fat. I know he'll thin out once he starts moving, but he has no real interest in crawling yet. Today we visited an Earth Day celebration at the sustainable farm project in our neighborhood.

All dressed up to go to the farm.
"Hello, Mr. Lion. You look delicious."

"Really, mom? A sock on my head? This is entertainment for you?"
Hanging with dad (in the pocket).

Warm weekend

We had some really warm weather this weekend. Almost too warm. I'm use to bundling up my baby for winter. But the nice weather means a lot more exposed baby flesh. Gotta love that.

Here he is hanging out on the front lawn

He likes to suck on a straw cup I bought him. I don't think he actually drinks the water, but he enjoys it.

Naked baby means easy clean up after eating some avocado. The late afternoon sun was streaming in our front door while Leo enjoyed naked time after a bath. It made for some good pictures.

Fun with Photobucket

I sometimes use an image hosting site called Photobucket. They recently added some special effects features.
So just for fun...

Big Boy Car Seat

At Leo's six-month appointment on Friday, he weighed in at 18 pounds and is 26 inches long. He's at the max for his infant car seat, so he moved up to his convertible car seat today. It was installed by professionals at a special public service event. I'm really going to miss the infant seat since it could be put in the car and taken out of the car without disturbing the baby.

Here is his first time in the seat, on our way home from the hospital. He's such a little peanut. Blanket toga after a leaky diaper.
About 10 weeks old.

Out for a stroll with Addison.
Last time in the car seat.
The big boy seat looks pretty comfy.

Six months old!!

Oh my goodness! I can't believe my baby is six months old. It has been so wonderful and exhausting and stressful. Leo is such a joy; I wake up every day excited to spend time with him. It is so fun to watch him develop (sitting up, eating, babbling), but everyday he gets further away from being my snuggly little baby and gets closer to being the big boy who wants to climb off my lap to dig up worms. I'm trying to cherish every moment.

Today was my first day of class, and all went smoothly. Leo does really well with his sitter; she's a real sweetheart. I plan to upgrade my camera with my first paycheck. You've been seeing Leo in a measly 3.2 megapixels. That's gotta change.

I did take a few pictures today. But first, a quick look back...

Huge, huge belly...about to pop
First week home.
From today...
Filling up the bouncy seat.

Here I am all dressed up for work (I'm even wearing pantyhose). I don't know if Leo recognized me out of sweat pants.

Bananas

Who doesn't love bananas for breakfast? Leo gave them a try for the first time today.
All ready in his "Chick Magnet" bib.
First bite.
Not too bad.
All done.

Balloon fun

Leo's six month birthday is coming up. On an whim, I bought him a Happy Birthday balloon today and it was a big hit.
We're enjoying the fact that Leo can sit up. He just looks so darn cute doing it, but he's still a little unsteady at times, so one of us is always near by or we create soft landing pad of stuffed animals.
