Baseball closing ceremonies

Yesterday was the closing ceremonies for the baseball season.  Tom and Nana took Leo down to the park and he got together with his team one last time.

 Super goofy kid.
He was proud of his trophy.
Serafina was at dress rehearsal all morning, so Tom collected her trophy for her.  Of course I made her put her jersey on one more time to take a picture with her brother.

Last day of school!

We made it!  Today was the last day of school.  I officially have a kindergartener and a second grader.  And they will be at the same school for the next four years.  Woo-hoo!

Here they are this morning.

And for comparison, the first day of school back in August.
 Goofballs.
Last time heading to the first grade classroom.

Last carpool with Gianna.
 Last book read in TK.
These sweet, excited kids were so happy to be celebrating their TK graduation.
The teacher got a little choked up and showed a very sweet slideshow, which was mostly pictures I had taken throughout the year.  It ended with a few shots of her wedding that happened a couple weeks ago.  Then the kids got certificates, along with school work and report cards.
Yummy snack.

Her friends Jazmyn, Isabella and Gianna.
With her teacher formerly known as Miss Wagenaar, now Mrs. Chiampas.
After school we picked up Nana from the airport and had some fun in the pool with our friends.  One of the moms forced all the kids to pose for a pool pictures.  I'm surprised they cooperated.
Then it was the adults turn to celebrate the end of school.  I somehow convinced the group to go to a vegan restaurant.  I ordered almost everything on the menu and it was delicious.  Here I am with Aida and Kristi, two very good sports.

End of TBall and more

We are almost at the end!  Today Serafina had a teddy bear picnic at school.  She brought a stuffed animal to school and they ate cookies and read books with their toys.  Here's Gianna and Serafina before school.  It was my last time driving carpool too.  Yay!

Serafina gets done early enough for us to have lunch together and hang out before we have to get Leo from his school.  I'll miss that time together next year when she starts full-time kindergarten.  Today we spent time reading books and practicing her batting with the whiffle ball.
Then we picked up Leo who had a trash bag full of projects and stuff from his desk.  We haven't even been able to look through all of it yet.
Here were a couple of my favorites so far.  His drawing of the Statue of Liberty.
And his list of favorite things, which included eating ice cream.  Looking at his work I can see he needs to work on his spelling and penmanship.  We'll spend some time on that this summer.  They both get report cards tomorrow so I find out if there is anything else we should be working on.
Serafina had her last Tball game.  It was the shortest game so far, which was awesome.  I had to be the hitting coach, which was less awesome.  The practice earlier in the day paid off though and Serafina hit the ball pitched to her both times she was up to bat and didn't need the T.  It was very exciting.  Here's the end of the game.

And then we headed to a team party at Jake's Pizza.
Jake's was the team sponsor.  It was also a madhouse in there because of the first game of the NBA Finals with the Golden State Warriors.
The coach got them each a little trophy.  So nice.
Tomorrow is the last day of school!  And Nana arrives!  And we are going out with friends sans kids!

Wacky Day, Park Day, Last Baseball Game

It was wacky wear/crazy hair day at Leo's school.

 Blue streaks are pretty crazy.
Serafina wanted her picture taken too.

Serafina's class took their trip to the park today.  Here are Gianna and Serafina headed to the park.
 Going over the rules.

 The girls have a snack.
 Bubbles.

Serafina brought home some schoolwork on Monday.  Here's examples of her penmanship from the beginning of the year and then more recently.

Here was her report on the field trip to the farm.  I love that she said she smelled "poop & stinky".

It was also Leo's last game of the season.   He had a solid game and got to play catcher one last time.
Here's a decent turn at bat.

Poor Serafina took a face plant off the end of the slide on the nearby playground.  It was pretty red at bedtime and she was startled and a little sad to see herself in the mirror.  I assured her it would be better soon.
At the end of the game, the coach had certificates for each player, personalized to acknowledge his area of improvement.

Leo got one for Great Batting Skills.

Leo's First Grade Park Day

It was Park Day for the First Graders.  It was also Pajama Day for the rest of the school, but the kids headed to the park were supposed to wear regular clothes.  Not everyone got the memo.

I brought up the rear for two classes.  There is a total of five classes with 22 - 25 kids in each.

 Going over some rules.

 Bubbles.
We brought our special frisbee and it lasted almost 30 minutes before it got lost in a tree.  Here's a search crew trying to find it.
I set a bad example by trying to climb the tree.  I didn't make it.

Serafina got dropped off at the park after school and had her lunch there.  She had a lot of fun playing with the big kids but it wore her out.
Serafina walking back to school with Felix, a little brother, and Romy, a first grader.  And yes, Serafina is taller than Romy and most of the first graders actually.
Fun but tiring day.  We were at the park for over three hours, which was much longer than we really needed.
