A couple of weeks ago, Leo brought home an assignment from school. It instructed him to share a "family tradition". All of our traditions focus on food, so it was a pretty obvious that's what he would do. He decided to present the butter cookies we make every Christmas Eve.
We made the dough a week ago and put it in the freezer.
Yesterday, we sliced, decorated and baked them. He's wearing his sports glasses because his regular ones broke on Sunday.
He also made this awesome poster. It includes pictures of him making the cookies over the years and he wrote out the recipe too.
He asked that I come to school during his presentation to help him hand out the cookies. Here he is getting ready to talk.
Here's a video of his presentation. He did a great job.
Enjoying the fruits of his labor.
All the kids got a cookie. Another girl in his class presented the tradition of making sugar cookies on Christmas Eve, but apparently she only brought one cookie and she ate it herself at snack time.
Here are some of the other posters that kids brought in with their traditions. It is definitely an international class. There were posters about Diwali, Chinese New Year, Hanukkah and more.
